Archetype of the King
About the energy of the King
In the conventional understanding, a king is someone who rules a kingdom. It can be a king, queen, or any other ruler. The King has his own idea of the common good, he motivates his subjects to follow this vision, blesses and supports them on this path.
The King is that part of our personality that governs us. This archetype manifests itself when we dream of something or create a vision of the future for ourselves or our company. We feel the power of this archetype when we want to reach for the stars. The King archetype opens our eyes to the bright and sunny side of life, encourages us to rejoice and see possibilities. Our confidence and enthusiasm help us inspire and motivate other people. Moreover, when we are absorbed by the King archetype, we can easily give blessings to other people. The energy of the King carries a sense of fullness and generosity, and people who possess an abundance of this energy often build relationships with other people, helping them, taking care of them, and educating them. It is in the nature of the King to give others what they need and support them. Besides this, the energy of the King is manifested whenever we take on the role of a leader or authority figure – from raising children to leading a company or state. When this archetype is activated, we see how something can be possible, and thanks to our positive attitude, we can attract other people to our vision like a magnet. The energy of the King conveys a sense of grandeur, which attracts like-minded people to us.
The energy of the King is warm, it is associated with the energy of fire. In everyday language, we also find the qualities of the King manifested in fire: people “catch fire with an idea,” they “blow up the flame” or “carry the fire.” When people are passionate about something, we say that a “fire is burning in their chest.” We light candles as a sign of trust or admiration for something or someone we value highly. Fire represents the passion for life, which is inherent in the energy of the King.
Balancing the energy of the King archetype
Access to the energy of the King archetype is through the emotion of joy. This does not mean that a person who possesses the energy of the King is always happy and smiling.
Rather, the feeling of joy strengthens the energy of the King. At its core, this archetype is associated with respect and admiration, meaning that the King embodies a sense of worthiness and confidence. When we are joyful, we feel more at ease with our own worth. We feel good, and for this reason, we can dream and find motivation to embody our intentions.
If the energy of the King is weak and suppressed, it can be said that a person loses inner strength. They lack motivation and confidence. A person who possesses strong King energy says, “Yes, I can,” but one whose King energy is weak says, “I can’t do it.” People with weak King energy can also be heard saying things like “it’s too hard,” or “I’m just too tired.” These people appear defeated, usually have low self-esteem, and often feel shy.
On the other hand, when people inflate their King energy, they become self-confident and believe they can always win. They can burst with inspiration and become so worried about each new opportunity that they cannot follow any of them consistently and long enough for implementation; they lack commitment. They usually have such an inflated sense of self-esteem that other people consider them pompous braggarts.
The belief that drives people to inflate or suppress the energy of the King archetype is that they are not good enough. It formed in childhood and is usually associated with early experiences of conditional love that contain the message: “You’re good, but not good enough,” “This is a good grade in math, but you need to improve your literature.” Always “yes, but…” In response, people either try their best to show that they are good enough or resign themselves to the fact that they will never be good enough, hiding in the shadows and feeling shy around others.
To balance the energy of the King, support and approval are necessary. It is important to discover the part of oneself that feels small and unworthy, and then nourish it, help it, support it, and approve of it. Of course, this is most effectively done in personal psychotherapeutic work, receiving support from a specialist, and gradually forming the ability to provide it to oneself. Thanks to this, people can relax and either stop trying so hard to be good enough or be content with who they are and pursue their goals with confidence.
