Breathe deeper!
Today, I want to encourage you to try breathing exercises. Why? Because breathing is energy, and it’s a question we often ask ourselves: where to get energy from?
I am a fan of holotropic breathing and rebirthing, and I can attest to the wonderful results that these practices can bring. Just yesterday evening, I had another holotropic session, and during the middle of the night, I felt significant changes in my state.
Allow me to share a little about this recent experience. It’s important to enter holotropic breathing with a request, but you never know what you’ll get in response. Unexpected feelings, images, or a strange experience that seems unrelated to what you’re breathing for can arise. It’s important to trust – the psyche is wise and knows what it’s doing.
Yesterday, I was breathing for energy. Lately, I’ve been feeling a lack of energy, constantly tired, and despite taking care of my health, I still felt like something wasn’t quite right. So I went into breathing with a request for the return of energy and vitality.
What happened? A lot of fear and anger surfaced, something irrational, and my body released these emotions through screaming and shedding something invisible but tightly attached to my back. At one point, I felt like the Beast from “The Scarlet Flower” as though I was trapped in a monstrous body under a spell. This is not an uncommon experience in holotropic breathing where one can feel like something or someone else. While part of me was aware that I was lying on the floor breathing, another part was captivated, and the process took on a life of its own. My body moved, and my voice made sounds by itself, but I trusted the process, and it eventually led to a completely new state. During the session, I felt so powerful that it amazed my husband who was helping me. He remarked, “Well, you’re quite a powerhouse, I can’t hold you.” It’s hard to say where the energy came from, and there are various possible answers to this question. To get a better understanding, it’s best to read primary sources such as books by Stanislav Grof where many such phenomena are explained.
What’s even more fascinating is that we recently obtained a device that enables us to conduct an ECG at home and interpret our pulse like a skilled practitioner of Chinese or Ayurvedic medicine, assessing how our chakras and meridians are performing. And you know what? The results revealed a 25% increase! Can you believe it?
Subjectively, I feel much better today. But numbers don’t lie!
However, I should warn you that after my initial holotropic session in 1998, I experienced a peculiar and somewhat painful state for a week. Nevertheless, as a determined person, I persisted with eight years of intensive practice, including retreats and monthly sessions. Let me tell you, it wasn’t an easy undertaking.
The result? Besides resolving various psychological issues, it helped me navigate a challenging crisis, deal with loss, and come out of that period with newfound gifts. It also boosted my energy levels and alleviated my persistent neurodermatitis (which I was already taking hormones for), as well as some other ailments.
Last year, I resumed my regular practice with around 10-12 sessions per year. Apparently, a new, intriguing phase lies ahead of me, and something is poised to emerge and unfold.
